Challenging Conventions™ Thermoelectric Cooling vs. Traditional Compressor Based Refrigeration (A/C) Traditional cooling systems are designs normally based on compressors and refrigerants, e.g. air-conditioners (A/C). Industrial grade A/C can be quite expensive for cooling capacities below 500W, especially when paired with harsh environments and high ambient temperatures. Therefore more and more applications are turning to thermoelectric cooling as the better alternative to traditional refrigeration technology. Thermoelectric cooling can significantly outperform traditional refrigerant-based cooling systems in many applications due to it better cost, typically lower maintenance, and longer life.
